Lead appointed party

The party appointed directly by the client that coordinates information from a whole delivery team, for example the lead designer or main contractor.
Updated 5 November 2026Draft · awaiting review

The lead appointed party is appointed directly by the appointing party and is responsible for coordinating information from its delivery team. On a design-and-build project it is often the main contractor; on a traditional project the lead designer.

It writes the BEP, assembles the MIDP from the task teams' TIDPs, and authorises information before it is published to the client. A project can have several lead appointed parties, each with its own delivery team.
