Model element

An object in a model that represents a physical or functional part of the asset, such as a wall, beam, pipe or space.
Updated 5 November 2026Draft · awaiting review

A model element represents a component, system or space of the asset: a wall, a beam, a duct, a room. Element categories are the rows of an LOD or LOIN matrix, and each carries geometry and information appropriate to its purpose and stage.

Requirements, quantities and checks all work at element level, so consistent categorisation and classification of elements matters.
