Metadata is information that describes a container rather than being part of its content: its status (S1, S2…), revision (P01, C01…), classification, title, author, dates and approval history.
ISO 19650 keeps status and revision as metadata, not in the file name, so the name stays constant while the metadata records its life. A CDE platform should let users filter and report on metadata fields.
